Convenience from Anywhere

The Leo Baeck Day School's Student Information Interface or SII is a great example of a web app (a whole suite of custom web apps, actually) that makes work easier and more convenient.

Before ID Design came along, teachers and administrators at the school used a paper-based system of report card writing, approvals, editing, and re-writing. Not only did each semester bring with it endless hours of grading and commenting, but each year introduced new boxes of paperwork to be filed away. Teachers hauled home stacks of reports only to haul the same stacks back to the only space where all the admins and teachers all met in the same place: the school. Each report was passed from mailbox to mailbox, marked up and moved on.

With the introduction of SII:

• the time it takes to complete the school's report cards each term has been greatly reduced
• repeated printing and manual editing of report cards has been eliminated
• final reports are automatically stored in electronic (PDF) format on the school's server
• student discipline notifications (to homeroom teacher, principal, etc.) are automated based on policy
